The Pakistan Stock Exchange closed lower on Friday after a KSE-100 index drop of 784.19 points, or 0.47 per cent, to 166,409.25 from 167,193.44. Brokers linked the pullback to profit-taking after a multi-session rebound and to caution as Brent crude rose above $116 a barrel on fresh Middle East supply worries.

How the session unfolded

The benchmark traded in a range between an intraday high of 167,338.73 and a low of 166,326.7. The KSE-30 index fell 294.03 points to 49,026.65. Early selling had already taken the KSE-100 down more than 200 points by about 9:50am, when it stood near 166,957.

Ready-market turnover edged up about 1.06 per cent to roughly 825.47 million shares, while traded value fell about 26.7 per cent to about Rs23.12 billion. Market capitalisation slipped about 0.56 per cent to roughly Rs18.39 trillion. Breadth was negative: 173 stocks rose, 300 fell and 28 were unchanged among 501 companies traded.

Crude oil and profit-taking

Ali Najib, deputy head of trading at Arif Habib Ltd, said it was a negative day, with volatility after a four-session recovery of about 4,800 points. He said sentiment turned more cautious later as Brent moved above $116 a barrel following attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and Houthi strikes on Saudi refineries, raising concern about energy supply and Pakistan’s external account—the balance of foreign payments and earnings.

UBL, LUCK, HBL, FATIMA and ATRL were the main drag, together cutting about 358 points from the index. EFERT, POL, MEBL, ENGROH and OGDC offered some support, adding about 177 points. Najib said the market could keep a positive bias if diplomacy and corporate earnings hold up, but geopolitical risk and oil volatility may keep near-term moves choppy.

What else moved on the board

Pervez Ahmed Co led volume with about 165.9 million shares, followed by Cnergyico PK and F Nat Equities. Unilever Pakistan Foods rose Rs428.80 to Rs26,280.00, and Rafhan Maize Products gained Rs104.14 to Rs8,587.46. Pakistan Engineering fell Rs35.70 to Rs880.29, and Sazgar Engineering Works dropped Rs33.11 to Rs1,400.25. Futures turnover rose to about 738.2 million shares.

On the week ended 30 October 2026, the same close of 166,409.25 still left the index up 4,034.37 points, or 2.48%, from 162,374.88 a week earlier, after earlier relief on oil and diplomacy before Friday’s profit-taking.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Jumme ko Pakistan Stock Exchange pe KSE-100 index drop hua aur market lagbhag 784 points gir gaya. Pehle kuch dinon mein jo bari recovery hui thi, us ke baad log faida book kar rahe the. Crude oil $116 se upar jane se energy aur import ke kharchon ki fikar bari. Jo log shares rakhte hain un ke portfolios pe short-term asar ho sakta hai; aam khareedar ke liye seedha message yeh hai ke oil aur sood ki rate abhi bhi mehngai ka risk rakhti hain.
