Pakistan Petroleum Limited posted a PPL profit for 2025-26 of Rs99 billion after tax, managing director and chief executive Mohammad Khalid Abdul Rehman told the company’s 75th annual general meeting in Karachi. He said the result came despite gas curtailment, declining mature fields and mounting circular debt — unpaid energy-sector dues that squeeze cash across the gas chain — and that collections for the year hit a company record of Rs284 billion.

Dividend raised as shareholders clear the books

Shareholders approved a final cash dividend of 60 per cent on ordinary shares, taking the total dividend for the year to 120 per cent, according to a company press statement. They also approved the financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2026, together with the auditors’ and directors’ reports. Board chairman Shahid Khan thanked shareholders for their trust and said the new board would keep giving strategic direction for progress, profitability and value creation.

Rehman said the PPL financial results reflected resilience under geopolitical uncertainty, volatile energy markets, security challenges and the same operational pressures. With strong collections, he added, the board raised the dividend payout while keeping a focus on operational efficiency and financial discipline.

Production, discoveries and offshore blocks

During the year PPL drilled seven exploration wells and four development wells. Average production held at 649 million standard cubic feet a day of oil equivalent (MMscfde) — a daily measure of gas and oil output — about 3 per cent higher than the previous year even with curtailment. The company made 11 discoveries, two on operated assets and nine on partner-operated fields, adding 242 billion cubic feet equivalent (BCFe) to 2P reserves, the proven-plus-probable volumes judged commercially recoverable.

PPL secured eight offshore blocks after Pakistan’s Offshore Bidding Round 2025 — two as operator and six as partner. A farm-out agreement with Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company for Eastern Offshore Indus Block C, sharing part of the interest with the Turkish firm, was presented as a further step in Pakistan–Türkiye energy cooperation. Development work continued at Offshore Block 5 in Abu Dhabi through operated Pakistan International Oil Limited.

Minerals, ESG and the year ahead

PPL is expanding into minerals and reviewing opportunities across the wider energy chain. Establishment of PPL Minerals as a dedicated unit underlines that push; the BLZ project has entered execution, mineral exploration has grown in Chagai, and options in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being evaluated. The company published its second environmental, social and governance (ESG) report and said long-term community work in education, healthcare, skills, drinking water and infrastructure reached a highest-ever Rs8.3 billion in 2025-26.

Looking ahead, Rehman said PPL intends to strengthen its core hydrocarbon business while growing minerals, adopting innovation, advancing ESG priorities and keeping prudent financial management so the company stays more resilient and diversified. For investors and communities watching the energy sector, the AGM message centred on cash collections, a higher dividend and a measured shift beyond oil and gas — not on any change to household fuel or gas tariff schedules.

Aasan alfaaz mein

PPL ne FY2025-26 mein tax ke baad Rs99 arab munafa dikhaya hai. Collections bhi record Rs284 arab rahi, is liye saal ka dividend 120 percent tak barhaya gaya. Gas kami aur purane fields ke bawajood production lagbhag 3 percent barhi. Ghar ke bill is khabar se khud nahi badalte, lekin mazboot collections aur Rs8.3 arab CSR se company apna kaam aur community projects jari rakh sakti hai.
