Zindigi, powered by JS Bank, has launched Zindigi overseas accounts so Pakistanis living abroad can open and manage a Pakistan bank account entirely online. Eligible customers do not need a Pakistani mobile number or a visit to a branch; they can register with an existing international WhatsApp number and receive a full digital account with an International Bank Account Number (IBAN), rather than only a digital wallet.
Who can apply and what they get
Digital onboarding is open to eligible holders of a Pakistan Origin Card (POC), a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), or a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC). Customers then choose between two non-resident account types, depending on their needs and applicable rules: a Non-Resident Account Repatriable (NRAR), from which funds can generally be sent abroad under the relevant rules, or a Non-Resident Account Non-Repatriable (NRAN), which is structured as a non-repatriable option.
Through the Zindigi app, account holders can stay linked to money matters at home. The service is built around everyday needs such as supporting family members, paying utility bills, managing household expenses and making local transfers inside Pakistan, from wherever the customer lives.
What Zindigi says about the launch
Noman Azhar, Co Founder and Chief Officer of Zindigi by JS Bank, said the firm’s aim is to make banking simpler, more accessible and “truly borderless” for every Pakistani. He called Zindigi overseas accounts another step toward that goal and said geographical boundaries should not block access to financial services. By letting overseas Pakistanis open and run accounts digitally on international mobile numbers, he said, Zindigi is bringing banking closer to millions who live elsewhere but remain connected to Pakistan.
How this fits overseas banking needs
For many diaspora households, sending support home, settling bills and keeping a rupee account have long meant paperwork, local SIMs or in-person visits. Zindigi overseas banking via JS Bank frames the new product as a way to remove those barriers: a JS Bank digital banking path that starts with identity documents already familiar to overseas Pakistanis and ends in an IBAN they can use from the app. The launch, according to the company, extends its push for digital, borderless services for Pakistanis beyond the country’s borders.
