Security officials say fire they attribute to the Afghan Taliban struck a civilian dwelling near the frontier, killing one resident and wounding five others from the same household. They described the strike as hitting a populated spot and warned that such fire puts local families at risk.

What officials say happened

According to those sources, the shells landed on a house rather than a military site. One person died and five relatives were hurt in the same blast. Officials framed the episode as aggression against non-combatants and said communities living close to the line of control face a clear danger when artillery or mortar fire crosses into Pakistan.

Army reply and frontier posture

The Pakistan Army moved quickly after the attack, the same sources said, and knocked out several checkposts held by Afghan forces. They presented the action as a direct answer to the civilian deaths and injuries. They added that the counter-moves had not ended and that units along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border remain on heightened readiness, ready to block fresh probes.

Diplomacy and the wider dispute

Separately, on 9 October, Pakistan’s Foreign Office told reporters that violence planned or launched from Afghan soil is a serious danger for Pakistan and for neighbours. The spokesperson said such assaults have grown and that armed outfits now find more space to work from inside Afghanistan.

Pakistan, the spokesperson said, still favours talks, diplomacy and steps that lower tension, while treating militancy as a core security problem. Islamabad says it has given the Afghan authorities precise details of sites used by militants. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—a banned group that has attacked Pakistan—the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and other outfits, the spokesperson said, have found shelter in Kabul and elsewhere in Afghanistan.

Those worries have been raised in regional talks, including the Moscow Format (a diplomatic forum on Afghanistan). The spokesperson said an earlier joint statement had echoed Pakistan’s concerns, but the Afghan Taliban did not accept the same wording in this year’s round.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Security sources ke mutabiq Afghan Taliban ki gola bari se aik ghar par hamla hua. Aik shehri janbahaq hua aur usi khandan ke paanch log zakhmi hue. Pakistan Army ne jawab mein Afghan checkposts nishana banaye. Sarhad ke paas rehnewale logon ke liye yeh khatra bara serious hai.
