The DG ISPR statement today that has drawn public attention comes from a 30 October 2026 interview in which Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s unfit and indifferent government had been among those facilitating terrorism. He also said a facilitator in the province who had obstructed counter-terrorism work is no longer present there.

DG ISPR is the military’s public spokesperson. In the same remarks, he framed Pakistan’s approach as a clear plan that includes eliminating terrorists and all their facilitators inside the country, and said some problems linked to militancy still have to be managed at home.

What he said about opposition in KP

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said no one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands against counter-terrorism operations except people who have a nexus with the militants. He argued that opposition to anti-terrorism work comes from those tied to the fighters, not from the wider public.

That line in the DG ISPR statement places political and administrative failure in the province alongside other enablers of violence, without naming individual politicians in the interview material available here.

Intelligence-led operations, not a large campaign

Instead of a major military offensive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said security forces are running intelligence-based operations. According to him, they carry out roughly 200 such operations every day.

Those raids, he said, are joint efforts by the police, the army and other law-enforcement agencies. The picture he described is steady, targeted action rather than a single large sweep.

Afghanistan and what Pakistan says it must fix at home

On cross-border dimensions, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan does not treat every internal problem as an external one. He also said the country does not claim that all terrorism on its soil is solely Afghanistan’s doing.

He did say Afghanistan is the main base from which attacks into Pakistan are organised, with militant leadership, training camps and launch pads located there. Related context on recent border tensions is covered in ISPR’s warning after border firing. Separate remarks on how the army is adapting to new threats appear in DG ISPR on drone and cyber defence.

Aasan alfaaz mein

DG ISPR ne kaha hai ke Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ki na-ahal hukumat bhi dehshatgardi ke sahulatkaron mein shamil thi. Woh kehte hain ke jo log anti-terror kaam ki mukhalifat karte hain, un ka dehshatgardon se talluq hota hai. Fauj aur police mil kar rozana lagbhag 200 intelligence operations karti hain. Is bayan ka matlab yeh hai ke security forces KP mein bari larai ke baghair nishana-band karwaiyan jari rakhna chahti hain.
