Households and shops served by the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO)—the utility that powers the federal capital and adjoining districts—should expect planned blackouts on Wednesday, 4 November, lasting as long as seven hours in listed localities.
Why the lights go off
Crews are carrying out yearly servicing of 11-kilovolt local feeders, finishing building and upgrade projects, and attending to transformers at substations. Across most affected circuits the gap runs from 9am until 2pm. On selected Attock and Chakwal feeders linked to construction sites, the break starts earlier—at 7am—and still ends at 2pm. IESCO has not booked any work on 132-kilovolt transmission corridors for this date.
The same yearly upkeep already interrupted supply across the footprint on 3 November. Officials describe the effort as a daily programme rather than a one-off shutdown.
Capital, hills and Rawalpindi pockets
In the Islamabad operation circle, listed zones include Bara Kahu, Murree, Jhika Gali, Bani Gala, Tarlai and Nilore, together with sectors such as D-12, E-11, F-6, F-8, G-6, G-8, G-9, G-10, G-13, I-9 and I-10. Feeders tied to the 132kV D-12 substation also stay dark while transformer T-2 is serviced, covering places including D-12 Markaz and nearby sector blocks, parts of E-11, and a Golra portion.
Other capital-area circuits named in the notice stretch from Mohra Noor, Rehara and Bahria Enclave to Bari Imam, Koral Chowk, Ghauri Town phases, G-8/1, Margalla Road pockets in F-8, I-10 streets, Scheme areas, Chatta Bakhtawar and Park Road, plus dedicated lines such as the IT Park and King Hamad University feeders. Timing for these entries is the standard 9am–2pm window.
Rawalpindi City’s circle likewise switches off numerous feeders under City, Satellite Town and Westridge divisions. Named stretches range from Liaqat, Iqbal and College roads through Gawalmandi, Sarafa Bazaar, Faizabad, Misrial Road, Jhangi Syedan, Tarnol, Railway Colony and many surrounding kalais and colonies—again mostly through the midday block.
Timeline: what has happened so far
- 3 November 2026: Comparable feeder and equipment servicing already cut supply across the IESCO region under the yearly drive.
- 4 November 2026: Fresh outages continue on listed 11kV feeders and at the D-12 transformer bay; Attock and Chakwal construction feeders start as early as 7am.
- Ongoing: IESCO says the yearly network upkeep is being done on successive days, not only on these two dates.
