The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has warned students to trust only the BIEK official website for exam information after fraudsters allegedly used a lookalike site and WhatsApp contacts to sell “cleared” papers. The scam allegedly charged Rs10,000 per subject and promised updated results within 24 hours of payment.
How the alleged scam worked
According to reports, a fake results page showed up in Google search results and steered students toward a WhatsApp helpline. People on that line—described as women who said they worked for BIEK—allegedly asked students to send money to private bank accounts so results could be changed or papers cleared.
The same reports say the fake site was later taken offline under a maintenance excuse after allegedly taking millions of rupees from students. None of those claims of cleared papers or board involvement has been backed by the board itself.
What the board says
BIEK chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho has denied any connection between the board and the fraudulent website. He told students to identify and use the board’s own online channels for information and contact details, and to stay away from unauthorised platforms.
Lakho said the board had repeatedly informed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA)—Pakistan’s cybercrime unit—about the fake website and had sent a formal letter to the relevant authorities seeking action. Board officials have also urged parents and students not to pay anyone who claims they can change, clear or improve examination results for money.
Advice for students and parents
Officials advise students to avoid unverified websites and random WhatsApp numbers for anything linked to exams. They say examination-related details should be checked only through official channels, including the BIEK official website, rather than search ads or messages that promise a quick fix.
Anyone who has already paid into a private account after such a pitch should treat it as a possible fraud case and report it to cybercrime authorities. The board’s message is simple: no genuine BIEK process sells cleared papers or overnight result changes.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Karachi BIEK ne students ko bataya hai ke fake website aur WhatsApp se result change karane wali offers dhoka hain. Log Rs10,000 per subject le kar papers clear karane ka wada karte the, jo board ke mutabiq galat hai. Sirf BIEK official website aur asli board channels use karein. Kisi ko result badalne ke liye paise na dein.
