Approved financing under the Apna Ghar Program loan scheme has jumped 245 percent since June 2026, reaching Rs511 billion as of 23 October 2026, according to Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad. Disbursements rose even faster over the same stretch, climbing 333 percent from Rs21 billion to Rs91 billion.

Schehzad shared the update on X, saying approved financing under the affordable housing scheme had grown from Rs148 billion in June to the October figure. “More financing. More families closer to owning their homes,” he wrote.

Approvals climb as banks clear more files

Banks have so far received 217,001 applications under the programme. Of these, 86,896 have been approved and 15,584 housing loans have been disbursed. The approval rate has improved to 40 percent from 28 percent in June — a rise of 12 percentage points.

Those numbers show that more applications are clearing the bank process than earlier in the year. An Apna Ghar Program loan still has to move from approval to cash in hand, and that second step remains slower than the first.

Gap between approvals and money reaching borrowers

Despite the sharper rise in disbursements, only around 18 percent of approved financing — Rs91 billion out of Rs511 billion — has so far reached borrowers. The rest sits as approved financing that has not yet been paid out.

The figures were also discussed at the sixth meeting of the Access to Finance (A2F) Steering Committee, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The committee noted progress in housing finance and talked through steps to speed up disbursements and ease housing supply constraints, including Apna Ghar Program developer financing for builders and under-construction projects.

The government has set a target of financing 150,000 homes under the scheme by June 2027. Momentum has built through recent months: by August, housing finance under the same scheme had already surged 94 percent from earlier levels.
