Electric motorcycle manufacturers in Pakistan were urged on Thursday to pursue joint ventures with China’s Wuxi Shengbao Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited, as Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia welcomed a Chinese business delegation in Islamabad. He said such partnerships could promote electric motorcycle manufacturing, localise two-wheeler production and bring modern technology to Pakistan, while opening doors for investment, jobs and exports.

What ICCI proposed

Welcoming the visitors, Mr Zia said Pakistan had strong potential for electric two-wheelers, including electric motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. He asked the Chinese firm to work with Pakistani entrepreneurs on motorcycle assembly and manufacturing, technology transfer, research and development, and the gradual localisation of parts.

He argued that Pakistan-China economic ties should move past importing and selling finished goods toward lasting industrial partnerships. Local production of electric motorcycles and other two-wheelers, he said, could cut reliance on imported finished vehicles, deepen domestic supply chains, build technical skills and create skilled work for young Pakistanis. Collaboration could also help position Pakistan as a base for regional and international markets.

How ICCI says it will help

Mr Zia assured the delegation that ICCI was ready to connect Wuxi Shengbao with Pakistani manufacturers, investors and relevant government departments to find partners, study manufacturing options and tackle practical investment hurdles. He also invited the company to present its electric mobility products at the chamber’s upcoming expo and at its display centre, to raise market visibility and meet potential business partners.

The aim, he said, should be to turn longstanding Pakistan-China friendship into concrete economic results through motorcycle manufacturing, technology partnerships, industrial investment and export-oriented production.

What the Chinese side showed

The delegation included Cheng Zong, Qing Zong and Muhammad Arif. During the meeting, Mr Yang Zong presented the company’s OPAI brand of two-wheelers and took questions on products and business prospects. He said the firm was keen on joint ventures and localising production in Pakistan, while also weighing export opportunities elsewhere.

He pointed to scope for building local manufacturing capacity, strengthening supply chains, offering technical training and raising the skills of Pakistani workers—an approach that would matter for electric motorcycle manufacturers in Pakistan seeking deeper industrial links rather than finished imports alone.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Islamabad Chamber ne China ki Wuxi Shengbao company ko welcome kiya hai. Unhon ne kaha ke Pakistan mein electric motorcycle aur do-pahiye gaariyan yahan banaane ke liye joint venture ho sakte hain. Is se nayi factory, technology aur jawanon ke liye jobs aa sakti hain. Ab baat partnership aur local production ki hai, sirf tayyar gaariyan import karne ki nahi.
