A worker has died in a fire at a bakery factory in Lahore after a blaze that was reportedly caused by a gas leakage in the baking area. Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resources Muhammad Manshaullah Butt has taken notice of the incident and asked senior labour officials for a full account of what happened.
What the minister ordered
The minister sought a report from the Director General Labour Punjab and directed the Director Labour Lahore to submit a detailed report on the incident without delay. He expressed grief over the worker’s death and offered condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.
He also told the authorities concerned to ensure the best possible medical treatment and facilities for those injured in the fire. The instructions place the focus on both explaining the cause of the blaze and caring for survivors still under treatment.
Safety warning to workplaces
Beyond this factory, the minister directed all industrial and commercial establishments to strictly comply with prescribed Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards and safety measures. OSH rules are the workplace safety requirements meant to reduce the risk of fires, leaks, and other hazards on industrial floors.
He warned that strict action would be taken if those standards are violated. The message ties the Lahore bakery factory fire to a wider call for safer practices across Punjab’s workplaces, especially where gas is used in production.
