What the military spokesman said

Pakistan’s military spokesman, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has described the Afghan Taliban authorities as a regime run by non-state actors and called them a proxy of India. Speaking in a recent interview, he said New Delhi is, in the army’s view, the largest sponsor of terrorism against Pakistan, and that the Afghan Taliban use non-state fighters and hired gunmen to pursue their aims.

The DG ISPR — the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations wing, which speaks for the armed forces — said Pakistan’s message to the Afghan Taliban is narrow and direct: stop supporting terrorists who strike inside Pakistan. He warned that if the regime refuses to act on that demand, it will “pay a heavy price,” and argued that the Afghan Taliban lack standing as a normal state on the world stage.

Militants, weapons and who is named

Lt Gen Chaudhry said banned groups including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) operate as Indian proxies against Pakistan. He accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering figures he identified as Noor Wali Mehsud, Bashir Zeb and Gul Bahadur, and said the planning for terrorism inside Pakistan is organised from Afghan soil, with weapons also supplied from there.

He added that Afghanistan still hosts international terrorist organisations such as Jaish al-Adl, Al-Qaeda and Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), a presence he said the United Nations, the United States and several other countries have already flagged. In his account, successive outside interventions — including after Russia’s involvement in Afghanistan — left space for many agencies and proxies to dig in.

What Pakistan wants next

Beyond the security demand, the DG ISPR said the international community should compel the Afghan regime to behave like a normal state and to halt narcotics cultivation and production. He also stated that Pakistan’s armed forces have the capacity to defeat threats coming from the Afghan side, including the use of drones.

The remarks sharpen an already tense border security debate: Islamabad frames cross-border militancy as the core dispute, while presenting the Afghan Taliban’s international isolation and drug economy as leverage points for wider pressure. No fresh operational detail on specific incidents was attached to the interview remarks summarised here.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Fauj ke tarjuman ne kaha hai ke Afghan Taliban hukumat Bharat ki proxy hai aur kiraye ke jungju use karti hai. Pakistan sirf yeh mangta hai ke Afghanistan se Pakistan ke andar dehshatgardi ki himayat band ho. Unhone kaha ke kuch known militants ko wahan panah mili hui hai aur hamle ki planning bhi wahan se hoti hai. Agar yeh nahi rukti to Afghan side ko bari qeemat chukani paregi, aur Pakistani fauj drones samet threats ka muqabla kar sakti hai.
