Rawalpindi’s confirmed dengue case count has reached 84 this year, the Health Department and District Health Authority (DHA) say, with no dengue death reported in the district so far.

Official tallies also show hundreds of people admitted on suspicion of dengue and more than six thousand screened at hospitals. One DHA update put a single new confirmed case in the previous 24 hours and said seven confirmed patients were under hospital treatment. A later Health Department brief said no new case had yet been reported in November, while repeating the citywide total of 84.

Cases, screening and hospital load

According to the Health Department, hospitals in Rawalpindi have screened 6,397 people for suspected dengue. Of those, 5,875 were listed as suspected cases, 84 as confirmed, and none as probable. The same update said 438 patients had been admitted on dengue suspicion.

The DHA gave closely related but slightly lower screening and admission figures: 6,382 people screened, 5,862 suspected cases, 435 hospital admissions, and one suspected patient under observation. Where the two briefs differ by a few dozen people, both still point to the same confirmed total of 84 and the same message that the virus remains in circulation.

Month-by-month picture

District health officials said September brought 27 dengue cases in Rawalpindi and October 51. The DHA also said August recorded no case. That pattern matches a familiar post-monsoon rise in the twin cities’ dengue season, when standing water and cooler evenings can keep Aedes mosquitoes active.

Prevention drive and enforcement

Authorities say 1,400 teams are working on dengue control in the field. The DHA broke that down as 415 outdoor and 985 indoor teams, and said last week’s surveillance coverage reached 99 percent. It also reported 17,859 dengue hotspots registered on the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) system.

Home and site checks run into the millions. The Health Department cited 5,908,794 homes inspected, with larvae found in 215,647; 2,036,630 sites checked, with larvae at 27,552; and 243,199 larvae destroyed. The DHA’s parallel numbers were a little lower on homes and sites but in the same range. Officials said 2,798 cases were registered over larva finds and standard operating procedure (SOP) breaches, 686 places were sealed, 2,331 challans issued, and Rs3.156 million in fines imposed.

  • Recent 24-hour window (DHA update): One new confirmed case reported; seven confirmed patients in hospital treatment.
  • November so far (Health Department update): No additional new case reported after the citywide total stood at 84; no dengue death this year.
