Liu Haixing, minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC)—the Chinese Communist Party’s body for contacts with other parties—will arrive in Pakistan on Sunday for his first official visit, the Foreign Office said.
He is coming at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The visit was confirmed in an Islamabad statement dated 1 November.
Meetings planned in Islamabad
During the stay, Liu will call on Pakistan’s leadership. On Monday he will also co-chair a high-level event with Dar, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson’s press release.
No further public schedule—such as which offices he will visit first or the full guest list for Monday’s session—was given in the release.
Why the visit matters for ties
The Foreign Office said the trip is part of ongoing high-level and party-to-party exchanges between Pakistan and China. It linked the programme to both sides’ stated aim of further strengthening their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership—the long-running label for the broad Pakistan–China relationship.
Party-to-party diplomacy sits alongside government-to-government contacts. An IDCPC minister’s first official visit signals that channel remains active alongside the usual foreign ministry track led by Dar.
