The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) — the national regulator for doctors and dentists — has cleared nearly 99 per cent of registration applications received up to October 2026, issuing 302,587 out of 304,819 cases, official sources said on 1 November in Islamabad.
They described the result as part of a push to speed up PM&DC registration work, improve service delivery and help medical and dental professionals use the council’s digital system rather than slow paper-heavy routes.
How the main licence categories stand
Portal figures shared with the same update break the workload into several high-volume streams. Renewal-of-full-licence applications numbered 90,837, of which 90,683 were issued. Full licences stood at 54,044 issued against 54,620 applications.
Provisional licences reached 51,702 issued of 51,736 received. Good Standing Certificates — documents often needed when a practitioner’s professional status must be confirmed — totalled 40,619 issued against 40,630 applications.
Postgraduate qualification registrations were processed in 17,158 of 17,203 cases. Faculty registrations came to 11,065 issued of 11,308 applications. Foreign basic provisional licences for Pakistani nationals were issued in 7,343 of 7,347 applications received.
What the council says drove the clearance rate
Official sources said that under PM&DC President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj the council has tightened workflow management, stepped up regular monitoring and improved administrative coordination so pending files are cleared more quickly.
In his statement, Prof Dr Rizwan Taj said the numbers showed the scale of registration work and progress in the busiest categories. He stressed institutional efficiency, transparency, accountability and timely help for professionals, while saying the council would keep raising process standards without lowering regulatory requirements.
Online portal and fewer avoidable delays
The PM&DC has also reinforced its online portal and back-office coordination so applicants can finish many registration steps remotely. Officials said that approach is meant to save time and travel costs, especially for doctors working in remote areas or high-pressure clinical settings.
Prof Dr Rizwan Taj added that the council is trying to spot missing documents and other objections earlier, then tell applicants what is still needed, so avoidable delays fall and the process becomes clearer.
Aasan alfaaz mein
PM&DC ne October 2026 tak aane wali zyada tar doctor aur dentist registration requests clear kar di hain — lagbhag 99 percent. Licence renewals, provisional licences aur related certificates ka bada hissa online system se nikal chuka hai. Is se doctors ko daftar ke chakkar aur safar kam karne mein madad mil sakti hai, khas tor par door-daraaz ilaqon mein. Jo papers incomplete hon, unhein pehle bata kar delay kam karne ki koshish ho rahi hai.
