Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has opened a time-bound facility for college and university students, allowing them to obtain motorcycle driving licences without the usual 42-day learner waiting period from 1 to 30 November 2026.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan said the step is meant to make the licensing process easier and more convenient for students across the federal capital. Eligible students who finish the required formalities can receive their motorcycle licences on the spot during this window.
How the student facility works
Under ordinary rules, applicants must complete a 42-day learner period before a full motorcycle licence. For the November window, ITP is relaxing that wait for college and university students only. The CTO said students can use the relaxation and leave with a motorcycle licence once paperwork and other formalities are done.
She encouraged students to use the offer while it lasts in November, rather than waiting until after the month ends, when the standard learner timeline would again apply as described for this special drive.
Home delivery of licences
Separately, the CTO told citizens that driving licences can now be received at home through TCS courier, so applicants need not return repeatedly to traffic police offices. She said doorstep delivery is intended to save time and make licensing more convenient for the public in Islamabad.
She also urged citizens to obtain valid driving licences before riding motorcycles or driving other vehicles, underlining that holding a proper licence remains a basic requirement regardless of the student relaxation.
