Ufone has drawn almost level with Jazz in Pakistan’s cellular market. September 2026 figures put Jazz at 36.15% and Ufone at 36.08%, a gap of just 0.07 percentage points after Ufone’s consolidation with Telenor Pakistan.

The jump is sharp. Ufone’s cellular market share stood at 15.05% in August. By September, after the Telenor Pakistan combination, it had risen to 36.08%, lifting the operator from fourth place into a near-tie with Jazz for the top slot.

How the operator rankings shifted

The merger has reshaped the order of Pakistan’s mobile operators. The market is now dominated by two almost equal players rather than a clear leader with several smaller rivals trailing far behind.

Zong remained the third-largest cellular operator. Its share edged down from 26.83% in August to 26.78% in September. The Special Communications Organization (SCO)—the state-linked operator that serves some remote and strategic areas—accounted for the remaining roughly 1% of the market in September, after 1.01% in August.

Fewer large operators now compete for subscribers. That consolidation is what brought Ufone and Jazz into such a narrow contest for the largest share.

What the narrow gap may mean for competition

A gap of 0.07 percentage points leaves little room between the two leaders. Network investment, service quality and pricing are likely to stay central to how they try to win and keep customers. The rollout of next-generation mobile services, including 5G, could also shape that rivalry as both seek to hold or extend their position.

Nothing in the latest share figures alone shows which operator will pull ahead next. What they do show is that leadership is no longer a comfortable lead for Jazz, and that Ufone has become a peer rather than a distant fourth.
