The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has launched a School Monitoring App meant to raise transparency and accountability in schools across the province. The department says the tool is designed to cover 60,015 schools so education authorities can follow student learning outcomes, teachers’ performance and school infrastructure from one place.
According to the department, the app replaces scattered monitoring arrangements with a single digital system meant to support decisions based on shared data. Officials will be able to see academic progress, classroom teaching practices and the state of school facilities without relying on separate, disconnected checks.
What the app tracks
The School Monitoring App includes tools to follow students’ academic progress, assess how teaching is delivered in class and check school facilities. It also carries information on student enrollment, whether classrooms are available and the condition of school buildings.
In plain terms, the platform is built so supervisors can see whether children are learning, whether teaching is being observed, and whether buildings and classrooms are fit for use—alongside basic enrollment and space data.
Who can use it and how
The platform brings together monitoring work for three bodies: the School Education Department (SED), the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) and the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF). Authorised users log in with their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number and a password, choose the schools assigned to them, and open sections on student assessments, teaching observations and infrastructure conditions.
SED, which runs public schooling policy in Punjab, PEIMA and PEF each have roles in different parts of the province’s education network; putting their monitoring functions in one app is intended to reduce duplication and gaps.
What officials expect next
The department expects the system to strengthen day-to-day school monitoring, make oversight clearer and help staff spot schools or areas that need improvement. How quickly every school is fully reflected in practice will depend on rollout and use by authorised staff; the stated design target is coverage of 60,015 schools.
