The lowest standard charge is AED 145 for a 36-page, five-year book, which works out to about Rs11,020 at the exchange rate of AED 1 to Rs76 used for these conversions.

Fees for a new e-passport

The Pakistan e-passport fee in UAE depends on three things: the number of pages, the validity period and whether the application is processed normally or urgently. For a 36-page book, the normal fee is AED 145 for five years and AED 215 for ten years. Urgent processing costs AED 235 and AED 355 for the same two validity periods.

Fees for replacing a lost e-passport

Applicants replacing a lost passport pay more, and the charge rises again after a second reported loss. A first loss of a 36-page, five-year book costs AED 290 on normal processing and AED 470 urgently. After a second loss, the same book costs AED 580 normally and AED 940 urgently.

The highest fee is AED 2,540, for an urgent replacement of a 72-page, 10-year passport after a second loss. At the same exchange rate, that equals about Rs193,040.

What current passport holders should know

Existing machine-readable Pakistani passports will remain valid until their expiry dates. Applicants have been advised to apply for renewal only when less than six months of validity remains on their current passports. Applicants must also provide both their first and last names to qualify for an e-passport.

People in the UAE can check the Embassy's official fee page for passport-related information.
