The 10kg atta price in Punjab has not been announced yet. The provincial government has resolved to take 20kg flour bags off the market and replace them with 10kg packs across Punjab, but the decision came without a price for the smaller packs or a date for the switch. Until a rate is published, buyers have no official figure to compare with the bags they buy now.
What the government decided
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Commissioners and deputy commissioners from across the province attended, and the agenda ranged from food prices to wheat planting goals and other administrative matters. The bag change was framed as a step on food prices and wheat supply.
Atta is the whole-wheat flour most Pakistani households use to make roti and paratha, so decisions on wheat and flour reach household budgets directly.
Pack prices and timing still unclear
No price has been announced for the new 10kg packs, so the 10kg atta price in Punjab cannot be confirmed from the decision. The government also gave no start date for the switch, and officials did not say when the smaller packs will reach shop shelves. Shoppers should check local rates before assuming the change has arrived.
Officials told the meeting that prices of 15 essential food items were steady, with vegetables and pulses among them. Another 10 items were getting cheaper, according to the briefing. The meeting also decided to upgrade the Qeemat App, the government's price-monitoring tool, but no date was given for that upgrade.
Border checks and wheat sowing
Maryam ordered strict monitoring of borders between provinces to stop wheat and flour smuggling. She also told every deputy commissioner to make sure their districts meet wheat sowing targets. Ahead of Ramadan, she asked officials to arrange bananas, apples and dates at regulated rates.
The meeting did not set a timetable for any of these steps. Until an official price and start date are announced, the change remains a decision without a settled shop price.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Punjab sarkar ne 20kg ke atta bags market se wapas lene aur 10kg packs laane ka faisla kiya hai. Abhi 10kg atta ki qeemat ka elaan nahi hua, aur naye packs kab dukanon par aayen gay, yeh bhi clear nahi. Smuggling rokne ke liye sarhad par nigrani sakht karne ka hukm diya gaya hai. Aap ke liye matlab yeh hai ke jab tak dukan par naye pack ki qeemat na dikhe, pehle rate check karein aur phir kharidari karein.
