A Dammam airport attack killed one expatriate and injured eight people at King Fahd International Airport on Wednesday evening, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said. In a separate incident, officials said a drone attack on a Saudi Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field, in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, killed two expatriates and injured two others. In total, three people were killed and 10 injured, and one of the injured is a Pakistani.

Attack on King Fahd International Airport

GACA said the attack caused one death and eight injuries, ranging from minor to severe. The injured were taken to hospitals for treatment. The authority also confirmed material damage, which was still being assessed.

Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, said coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed four drones in the Eastern Province. His remarks did not tie those interceptions to a specific location. No party has been named as responsible for either attack in the official statements.

Drone attack on the Shaybah oil field

The Ministry of Energy confirmed that two expatriates, a Filipino and a Nepali national, were killed. A Pakistani and an Indian national were injured. An official source at the ministry said Saudi air defences intercepted a drone that was trying to hit one of the oil field's processing facilities.

The attempt set fire to a vehicle belonging to a contractor, outside the facility's perimeter. The source said operational activities were not affected. The ministry offered condolences to the families of the dead and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

What happens next

GACA has said it will issue further updates as more information becomes available, and the damage at the airport is still being assessed. The official statements have not said who carried out either attack. Travellers and families should follow GACA and their airlines for flight updates, and the Ministry of Energy's statements for news about the oil field.
