What the DeepSeek coding agent is
DeepSeek has published a DeepSeek coding agent research prototype called dsh-superagent on GitHub. In plain terms, it is software meant to help with coding work on a single GitHub repository: it can listen for requests, take on a task, and come back with results such as a pull request, while trying to use as little human attention as possible.
The project is released under the MIT licence, so the code is open for others to read and adapt. DeepSeek is clear that this is a research prototype for reference only, not an official DeepSeek product, and not production-ready software. The team says the published version was adapted for release and is not identical to its internal build or to every idea discussed in related design writing.
How dsh-superagent is meant to work
The agent is packaged as a bundle for DeepSeek Harness, DeepSeek’s agent-running setup. It listens to GitHub and, if configured, Feishu (a workplace messaging tool). When someone who is allowed to ask for work does so, the agent opens a work item, works in its own agent session and directory, and answers in the original conversation—for example by opening a pull request.
A web panel shows what still needs a person. The design goal, as described with the release, is to take little human attention and still deliver useful work. Because an agent that can act for a whole team can also waste a whole team’s time, it is meant to act only when asked or when a team-written rule allows it, and to speak only when someone must act or can use a result.
Setup, docs and what DeepSeek warns
Setup has many steps. The published guidance is to ask your own coding agent to read SETUP.md in the repository and walk through setup with you: one short question at a time, a full plan once, then install and configure. Numbered documents cover philosophy, the domain model, authorisation, execution, prompts, the panel, deployment, architecture and a cookbook for adding a source.
DeepSeek says the code grew out of day-to-day development work, with much of the engineering done by coding agents. It may still contain bugs, and coding style and engineering practices may be inconsistent. Reviewers are told to review and adapt it before use. Development checks are run with pnpm check for typecheck, tests and build.
Aasan alfaaz mein
DeepSeek ne GitHub par dsh-superagent naam ka coding agent prototype open source kiya hai. Yeh research code hai, official ready product nahi. Yeh ek GitHub repo par kaam sun sakta hai aur pull request bana sakta hai. Jo developers ya students try karen, unhen pehle docs aur SETUP.md dekh kar careful rehna chahiye.
