Nayatel has secured first place in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) cybersecurity rating for 2026 in the Fixed Line category. The result means the company finished ahead of all other operators in that group for a second consecutive year.
PTA is the national telecom regulator. Fixed Line covers wired broadband and similar home and business connections, as distinct from mobile networks. For customers, the ranking is about how well an operator protects data and networks, not only about download speed.
How PTA ranks telecom security
Each year PTA, working with an independent third party, audits licensed telecom operators. The review checks compliance with the Critical Telecom Data and Infrastructure Security Regulations, or CTDISR — rules on how operators guard customer data, harden their networks and prepare for cyber threats. Operators are then ranked within their own category.
PTA revised those rules in 2025 as CTDISR-2025. The update aligns the framework with ISO/IEC 27001, a widely used information-security standard, and with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, a risk-based model from the United States’ standards agency. The aim is to push operators toward a more proactive approach to security rather than a checklist-only one.
Nayatel’s climb to the top
Nayatel spent two years in second place in the Fixed Line category before moving to first in 2024-25. In the PTA cybersecurity rating for 2026 it held that lead. The company credited its cybersecurity team and other teams across the organisation for the result.
The ranking sits alongside other credentials the firm already holds. Nayatel has ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications — covering information security and privacy information management. Its cybersecurity staff carry certifications that include OSCP, CEH and PT1. The company also sells penetration testing to Pakistani businesses, helping them find and fix weaknesses before attackers can use them.
Timeline: what has happened so far
- Before 2024-25: Nayatel held second place in the Fixed Line category for two years.
- 2024: Pakistan was placed in Tier 1 of the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index and moved into the top 40 countries; PTA has linked that progress in part to regular telecom cybersecurity audits.
- 2024-25: Nayatel moved from second to first in the Fixed Line category.
- 2025: PTA updated CTDISR as CTDISR-2025, aligning it with ISO/IEC 27001 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- 2026: Nayatel retained first place in the Fixed Line category of PTA’s Cybersecurity Rating.
Why the ranking matters
Banking, shopping, remote work and government services increasingly run over the same networks that carry everyday internet traffic. PTA has said regular cybersecurity audits across the telecom sector have helped Pakistan’s standing on the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index. For Nayatel’s home and business subscribers, the 2026 result means their Fixed Line connection comes from the operator ranked first in that category.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Nayatel ne PTA ke Fixed Line cybersecurity rating 2026 mein pehla number hasil kiya hai. Ye dusra saal hai jab ye company is category mein sab se upar hai. PTA har saal check karta hai ke operators customer data aur network ko cyber threats se kitna behtar mehfooz rakhte hain. Ghar aur office users ke liye matlab ye hai ke unka wired connection us operator se aa raha hai jo is rating mein number one par hai.
