The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the country’s central bank, on Friday injected Rs1,075.9 billion into the banking system to maintain market liquidity. The funds were placed through Reverse Repo Purchase and Shariah-compliant Mudarabah-based Open Market Operations (OMOs)—tools the SBP uses to supply short-term cash to banks—on 30 October 2026.
Of the total, Rs886.15 billion was injected under reverse-repo purchase against 17 quotes, and Rs189.75 billion through the Mudarabah-based OMO. Both windows covered 7- and 14-day tenors, meaning the money is due back in one or two weeks.
How the reverse-repo bids were settled
For the 14-day reverse-repo tenor, the SBP received 14 bids totalling Rs1,046.8 billion, with offered rates of return between 12.03 percent and 12.10 percent. It accepted Rs575.05 billion against 12 quotes at a 12.05 percent rate of return. Bids pitched exactly at 12.05 percent totalled Rs530.5 billion; of that, the SBP took Rs293.85 billion on a pro rata basis, sharing acceptance among those offers.
For the 7-day reverse-repo tenor, five bids offered Rs311.1 billion at rates from 12.01 percent to 12.10 percent. The SBP accepted the full amount against all five quotes at 12.01 percent.
Shariah-compliant Mudarabah OMO
The central bank also ran a Mudarabah-based OMO for the same tenors. No bid was received for the 7-day window. For the 14-day tenor, five quotes offered Rs189.75 billion at rates between 12.05 percent and 12.06 percent. The SBP accepted the entire amount at 12.05 percent.
Together, the reverse-repo and Mudarabah operations account for the full Rs1,075.9 billion injection reported for the day.
What the operation does
Open market operations let the SBP manage how much short-term cash sits with banks. A reverse-repo injection temporarily supplies funds against collateral; a Mudarabah-based OMO does similar work under Islamic finance rules. Acceptance rates near 12 percent show the return banks agreed for that short-term funding in these windows.
The figures cover only this OMO round. The sources do not state whether further injections are planned or how long banks will need similar support.
Aasan alfaaz mein
State Bank ne banks ko short time ke liye 1,075.9 arab rupay diye hain taake market mein paise ki kami na ho. Yeh paisa reverse-repo aur Shariah Mudarabah OMO ke zariye 7 aur 14 din ke liye diya gaya. Banks ne roughly 12 percent return par yeh funding li. Seedha matlab yeh hai ke banking system mein temporary cash available rakhi gayi hai; is operation se retail petrol ya bill rates khud change nahi hue.
