Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the Pakistan IT exports target for FY27 is $5.5 billion, with workers’ remittances expected to reach $44 billion, as the government pushes reforms for export-led growth, lower energy costs and economic stability.

He set out the figures at a policy dialogue at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), linking the goals to a broader push for exports rather than presenting them as already achieved.

Reserves, ratings and financing signals

Aurangzeb said foreign exchange reserves now cover more than three months of imports. He also said Pakistan’s credit rating has improved three times since April 2025.

He pointed to Eurobond orders that were twice covered and to exporter financing offered at 4.5 percent. Those points were offered as signs of improving external confidence while he still called for more reform.

Energy costs and winter gas planning

On industry costs, he said talks are under way on industrial electricity at about Rs23 per unit. Cheaper power, he argued, would support exporters if costs can be brought down in a durable way.

He also underlined the need for winter gas planning. That warning sits alongside the export and remittance goals: stability in fuel and power supply remains part of the same policy message.

What the FY27 targets cover

The Pakistan IT exports target of $5.5 billion is a forward-looking projection for FY27, not a claim about current-year receipts. Remittances—money sent home by Pakistanis working abroad—are forecast at $44 billion over the same fiscal year.

Together, the two numbers frame how the finance minister wants external earnings to look as reforms continue. He did not present a full list of every export sector in the remarks summarised here, and he stressed that further reforms are still required.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Finance minister ne kaha hai ke FY27 mein Pakistan ki IT exports ka hadaf 5.5 arab dollar hai. Bahar se anay wali remittances ka hadaf 44 arab dollar bataya gaya hai. Hukumat exports badhane, bijli sasti karne aur economy stable rakhne ki baat kar rahi hai. Asar tab clear hoga jab ye hadaf asal mein hasil hon aur energy ke kharch kam hon.
