Relatives demand a court-led look
Hina Javed news this week centres on her family's call for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to create a judicial commission into the alleged killing in Rawalpindi. Through a written appeal to the CM, they dismissed the police investigation committee's conclusions and asked for an independent review of the file.
Hina, who was 45 and worked in digital media, was discovered lifeless in a bathroom at her Lal Kurti home on 21 August. Her brother filed a murder case at Civil Lines station, saying she had faced violence before she died. The autopsy, relatives note, recorded a broken neck bone, harm to the ribs and hip, plus blood close to the heart.
Arrests and disputed lines of inquiry
Police detained her husband, Faisal Asghar, and household worker Zeeshan Arshad; her father-in-law was also named in the inquiry. Zeeshan's relatives later accused officers of pushing to cast him as the main accused.
In their letter, Hina's kin said they no longer trusted the committee's methods after several failed bids to reach the chief minister directly, and that they had raised the same worries through other forums and officials. They challenged how forensic material was handled, claiming genetic traces tied to Faisal and his father were found on her neck, and recalling that the father-in-law first spoke of a theft at the house.
They said lab reports on phones belonging to Hina and those under suspicion were still awaited, alleged that key chats had been wiped from her handset, and asked why focus moved toward the domestic worker before fingerprint and forensic results were ready. While accepting that the employee took part in the killing, they argued that material pointing at Faisal was being sidelined.
The letter also said a police committee should not brand anyone guilty or clear before a court hears the matter, calling that a conflict when the same force both investigates and announces findings. Relatives urged Maryam Nawaz to study the dossier in full, form a judicial commission, deny cover to those accused, and see that the law is applied.
What the chief minister said
On the latest Hina Javed news, Maryam Nawaz stated that work on the case continues and remains incomplete. She said every step would be taken to secure justice and that she would meet the bereaved family herself.
