Islamabad’s Health Department has restated the Pregabalin ban Islamabad pharmacies must follow: pregabalin-containing medicines cannot be sold without a valid prescription. Pharmacy Services and Drug Control issued a public and pharmacists’ alert on Oct 25 directing licensed chemists and pharmacists to comply fully with the rules.

What the alert requires

The section said the restriction is being enforced in line with directions issued on July 10, 2026. All licensed pharmacies and pharmacists in the capital have been told to dispense pregabalin-containing medicines only against valid prescriptions. Over-the-counter sale of those products is not allowed under the order.

The alert addresses both the public and the pharmacy trade. Chemists are expected to check for a proper prescription before handing over any pregabalin product stocked on their shelves.

Why the department says it matters

The department stressed that following the directive is essential to protect public health and to promote the safe use of medicines. It framed the Pregabalin ban Islamabad is enforcing as a compliance duty for every licensed outlet, not an optional guideline.

It also urged people to consult qualified medical practitioners before obtaining prescription medicines and to follow medical advice so that such drugs are used safely. That message sits alongside the sales rule rather than replacing it.
