What happened in Zarkani
A DI Khan operation on October 24 left six terrorists dead and two Pakistan Army soldiers martyred, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) — the military’s media wing — said. Security forces acted on intelligence about militants in the general area of Zarkani in Dera Ismail Khan district.
According to the ISPR, the fighters belonged to Fitna Al Khwarij, a group it describes as an Indian proxy. It said a careful raid ended with six of the militants killed, while an intense exchange of fire also claimed the lives of two soldiers.
The soldiers who were martyred
The ISPR identified the martyrs as Naik Ghulam Murtaza, 36, a resident of Gujrat district, and Sepoy Taseer Ahmed, 30, from Talagang district. The statement said both men fought bravely and embraced shahadat — martyrdom in the line of duty.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed, the ISPR added. It said the militants had taken part in many attacks on security forces and law enforcement agencies and in the killing of civilians.
What the military says comes next
A sanitisation operation — a follow-up sweep to clear remaining threats — was under way to find and eliminate any other terrorists still in the area, the ISPR said.
It linked the action to the wider counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, which it said was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. That drive, the statement said, will continue at full pace against foreign-sponsored terrorism. The ISPR added that such sacrifices strengthen the resolve to protect the country at all costs.
