Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has told officials to push through swift management and teaching changes at Edwardes College Peshawar, saying a return to strong campus standards sits high on the KP administration’s agenda.
On 3 November 2026 in Peshawar, while leading a session on how the campus is run and taught, he examined office structures, buildings, online tools, remote learning, exam results and learner success. His education adviser, Dr Syed Amir Abdullah, Higher Education secretary Abidullah Kakakhel, Board of Governors members, the principal and other officers took part. Briefings also covered money handling, reform steps already under way, accountability, sports and cultural work, and tax matters.
What the Governor asked for
Mr Kundi made clear he was unhappy with how the campus is performing and how it is managed. He told those present to clear every pending problem without delay and to speed up both office and classroom improvements. He put Dr Syed Amir Abdullah in charge of a wide reform drive and asked that a lasting principal be named as soon as possible. Empty seats on incomplete college committees, he said, should be filled at once.
He further sought an outside review of how money and offices are run, a shift of campus accounts into the Bank of Khyber, and early action on tax questions. Officials were told to design a plan that lifts intake where courses have few students, strengthen the computer lab, and take concrete steps so the institution can grant degrees under its own name.
Buildings, enrolment and standards
Revival work, he stressed, should move quickly. He asked for thorough plans to upgrade facilities and to start construction and repair schemes without waiting. Edwardes College Peshawar, he said, needs to reclaim the public respect and teaching standing it once held. Those at the table also offered ideas meant to raise standards and tighten day-to-day management.
Parents and students watching the process will look next for timelines on the principal’s appointment, the outside audit, and whether low-intake departments begin to fill. No dates for those steps were announced at the meeting beyond the call to act soon.
