Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah informed the Senate on Thursday that Daanish University £190 million transferred from the Supreme Court is being spent on the project in Islamabad. He gave the reply after Senator Saifullah Abro raised the matter on the floor.

What the Senate was told

Rana Sanaullah said the money moved from the Supreme Court—Pakistan’s highest court—is going into the Daanish University work in the capital. He framed the figure as confirmed government spending on that project, not as a separate pot still waiting for a decision.

He linked the university announcement to the wider Daanish Schools programme. According to him, the schools were started in Punjab with donor funding and are now also being extended to Bahawalpur. He said the network aims to give quality education to underprivileged and orphaned children, and that some graduates have become doctors and engineers or gone on to study at universities abroad.

How the government describes the programme

Rana Sanaullah described Daanish Schools as an important initiative of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In that framing, the Islamabad university project sits inside a broader push to expand the same model beyond the original Punjab schools.

He did not, in the Senate exchange summarised here, set out a line-by-line budget for how each pound of the Daanish University £190 million will be used on campus works, staffing or scholarships. What he did state clearly was the destination: the Daanish University project in Islamabad, funded from the Supreme Court transfer.

Corruption claims and the reply on Nadeem Mehboob

Responding to allegations of corruption, Rana Sanaullah asked Senator Abro to share any verified information. He said the government would examine such material and take strict action if wrongdoing was established.

On Nadeem Mehboob, the advisor said he had known him for 15 to 20 years and considered him an honest person. He added that any credible information would be brought to the prime minister’s attention and investigated if necessary.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Government ne Senate mein bataya ke Supreme Court se aane wale £190 million Daanish University Islamabad ke project par kharch ho rahe hain. Yeh schools gharib auryateem bachon ko behtar taleem dene ke liye Punjab se shuru hue, aur Bahawalpur tak bhi phailaye ja rahe hain. Wazir-e-Azam ke advisor ne kaha ke agar koi saboot wala corruption ka ilzam ho to hukumat check karegi. Aam logon ke liye yeh matlab yeh hai ke yeh raqam education ke project ke liye batayi gayi hai, lekin har pound ka detail budget is baat cheet mein nahi diya gaya.
