The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Pakistan’s federal agency that targets illegal narcotics, has carried out a drug bust in Pakistan that left 10 drug suppliers under arrest and 33.8 kilograms of banned substances recovered. An ANF spokesperson said the haul came from seven operations in different cities. Cases have been registered against those arrested under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, the main law covering trafficking and possession of narcotics.
Raids on roads and in cities
In inter-provincial work near Sher Shah Toll Plaza in Multan, officers seized 12 kilograms of ice — crystal methamphetamine sold on the street — from two suppliers travelling on a passenger bus. Near Karnal Sher Khan Interchange in Swabi, a vehicle search yielded 10.8 kilograms of opium and led to the arrest of two people.
In Peshawar, 6 kilograms of hashish concealed inside a motorcycle were recovered near the GT Road Bridge, and the accused was arrested. In Islamabad’s Sector D-17/2 Markaz, 2.4 kilograms of hashish were taken from two suspects. On GT Road in Jhelum, officers recovered 260 grams of hashish from two motorcyclists.
Airport luggage and a courier parcel
During an international interdiction at Bacha Khan International Airport, 2 kilograms of hashish were found in the luggage of a passenger travelling to Dubai on a work visa. That passenger was arrested.
At a private courier office in Sector I-9, Islamabad, 400 grams of a prohibited substance were found hidden inside a juicer machine in a parcel. Taken together, the roadside, airport and courier finds make up the 33.8-kilogram total from this drug bust in Pakistan.
Cases under the CNSA
The ANF said the arrested individuals face cases under the CNSA. The mix of ice, opium and hashish — moved by bus, private vehicle, motorcycle, air luggage and courier — shows several supply routes were disrupted in one round of enforcement. No further court dates or sentencing details were given in the account released with the arrests.
