Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered authorities to speed up PM Shehbaz Daanish Schools construction nationwide, directing round-the-clock work so the campuses are finished on time without any cut in quality standards.
He gave the instructions on Saturday while chairing an online review meeting, held on Zoom, to check progress on the school-building programme. Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Dr Musadik Masood Malik took part, along with senior officials from the relevant ministries and institutions.
Speed, quality and how students will get in
The prime minister said children are the country’s future and described Daanish Schools as an investment in that future. He insisted that admissions must rest strictly on merit, with priority for pupils from the poorest and most deserving households.
He also told officials that quality must not be traded for pace. Construction may continue day and night, he said, but standards for buildings and services must hold.
Teaching methods and independent checks
PM Shehbaz asked authorities to bring modern artificial intelligence (AI) — computer systems that can support learning — and information technology (IT) into teaching and training, so students pick up current knowledge and skills.
He further directed an independent third-party assessment of infrastructure, facilities and services at the schools, so outside reviewers can confirm they meet the required standards.
Access in GB, AJK and a plan for merged districts
The prime minister instructed the Ministry of Communications — the federal ministry that oversees major roads — to build an effective road network that improves access to Daanish Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He also asked the relevant authorities to prepare and present a plan to establish the institutions in the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the areas once known as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
During the same meeting he received a briefing on construction progress in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sindh and Balochistan. Officials are now expected to follow the speed-up and quality orders, bring forward the road and merged-district plans, and arrange the independent checks he demanded.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Wazir-e-Azam Shehbaz Sharif ne Daanish Schools ki tameer tez karne ka hukum diya hai, aur kaam raat din chalane ko kaha hai. Quality kam nahi honi chahiye, aur admission sirf merit par, gharib bachon ko pehle mauqa milna chahiye. GB aur AJK mein schools tak sadkein behtar banane, aur KP ke merged ilaqon ke liye plan taiyar karne ko kaha gaya hai. Bacchon ke liye yeh matlab hai ke schools jaldi aur behtar standard par banen, lekin abhi fees ya opening dates ka koi naya elaan nahi hua.
