Three more teacher appointments in the Mirpurkhas Education Department have been declared fake, bringing the total number of such cases to nine. On Tuesday, Secretary Education took notice of a report from Director of School Education (Primary), Mirpurkhas, Muhammad Iqbal Kumbhar, and directed the Director of School Education Hyderabad to hold an inquiry.
Who has been named so far
According to official reports, the latest appointments found to be fake are those of Muhammad Imran, a High School Teacher (HST, a secondary-level teaching post), and Bhaghchand and Muhammad Usman, both Junior School Teachers (JST, primary-level posts). Director Kumbhar formally informed the Secretary Education, after which the Director of School Education (Primary), Hyderabad, opened a departmental inquiry.
Earlier, six other appointments had already been declared fake: Mir Fahad Ali, Anil Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Abida Parveen, Zahid Ali and Arshad Ali. Together with the three new cases, the identified total stands at nine.
What officials say is under review
The matter has also pointed to alleged illegal appointments and the disbursement of salaries through the Treasury Office, the government office that pays public employees. Officials say the inquiry is expected to look at how the appointments were made and at alleged financial irregularities linked to payments to people who were not eligible for those posts.
Repeated findings of fraudulent appointments in Sindh’s education setup have raised questions about recruitment checks, the verification of official records, and how salaries reached allegedly ineligible staff. The Mirpurkhas Education Department cases form part of that wider concern over hiring controls.
