The Federal Board of Revenue will keep an FBR office open on Saturday, 31 October, so taxes and duties can still be collected that day. Under the board’s instructions, all Large Taxpayer Offices, Corporate Tax Offices and Regional Tax Offices are to operate during normal working hours.
Which offices stay open
Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue have been told to keep the relevant offices open and to continue routine official business. The FBR said the step is meant to make tax collection more effective and to give taxpayers timely facilitation at these locations.
Help with returns and payments
FBR officials said taxpayers will be guided on technical problems and other issues they face while filing returns, so they can submit returns and pay taxes without difficulty. The same commissioners have been directed to monitor performance, office timings and other administrative matters while the FBR offices open on Saturday under these instructions.
What the board wants from the day
The measure is framed as support for collection and for people who need staff help to finish filing or payment work. Offices named in the instructions are expected to follow their usual working hours rather than close for the weekend on 31 October.
