Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that gas timing in Pakistan for domestic consumers is set at eight hours a day, covering the three main meal periods. The arrangement follows directions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He reviewed the national gas position at a meeting in Islamabad and told utilities to keep supply uninterrupted during those meal windows.

The minister said the government remains committed to household cooking gas even as the ongoing Middle East conflict creates pressure on energy markets. He also ordered a faster response to consumer complaints.

Supply volumes reported by the utilities

Managing Director of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) told the meeting that 487 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas was being supplied to domestic consumers. Managing Director of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) reported 286 MMCFD for the same category.

Officials reviewed how domestic demand is being managed so that available volumes follow the government’s household schedule. The discussion focused on keeping Pakistan gas supply aligned with the eight-hour domestic arrangement rather than leaving gaps at cooking times.

Complaints and customer feedback

Ali Pervaiz Malik directed both companies to answer complaints promptly and to strengthen customer service. He stressed fuller use of existing feedback channels, including automated robocalls, official websites and social media, to gauge satisfaction, spot service problems and improve delivery.

Those steps sit alongside the core promise on gas timing in Pakistan: eight hours a day for homes, timed around meals, while utilities coordinate more closely with consumers under regional uncertainty.
