Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz has unsettled Strait of Hormuz oil prices and wider gas markets, adding pressure on energy costs and supply planning.
Speaking at a convocation ceremony at a private university in Lahore, the minister linked the waterway’s unsettled outlook to challenges for fuel and gas. He told the gathering that Pakistan had handled the period of strain for the past six months.
What the minister said on prices and support
Malik said petroleum prices inside Pakistan are set through a transparent process. He also said subsidised petrol is being given to people from low-income groups to ease their financial burden while global markets remain unsettled.
He did not announce a new domestic price change in those remarks. His focus was on how Strait of Hormuz oil prices and related gas costs abroad are feeding into the difficulties governments face when securing energy.
Qatar gas and winter supplies
On gas, the minister said supplies from Qatar were continuing without interruption. He expressed confidence that enough gas would remain available in December and January as well.
That assurance matters for households and industry that rely on imported liquefied natural gas and piped gas through the colder months, when demand typically rises.
Why the Strait still shapes costs
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow shipping passage for much of the world’s seaborne oil. When conditions there stay uncertain, traders and governments watch Strait of Hormuz oil prices and supply routes more closely, because delays or higher risk premiums can push up costs far from the Gulf.
Malik’s Lahore comments place Pakistan’s recent management of fuel and gas against that backdrop: global price pressure from Hormuz-related uncertainty, a claim of six months of domestic handling, transparent local pricing with targeted petrol subsidy, and uninterrupted Qatari gas with winter cover through January.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Petroleum minister Ali Pervaiz Malik ne kaha hai ke Strait of Hormuz ki ghair yaqeeni surat-e-haal se oil aur gas ke rates pe asar para hai. Unhone bataya ke Pakistan ne pichhle cheh mahine is soorat-e-haal ko sambhala. Qatar se gas aa rahi hai aur December-January ke liye bhi gas ka intezaam hone ka aitmaad zahir kiya. Gharib tabqe ke liye subsidised petrol jari hai, lekin international rates ki tension ab bhi maujood hai.
