The Punjab government will arrange collective weddings for 500 deserving girls across four districts of Faisalabad division in the fourth phase of the Dhee Rani Program Punjab, with ceremonies likely in December 2026. Officials said preparations have been stepped up so that selection stays transparent and arrangements remain dignified for beneficiary families.

The initiative follows the welfare approach of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aimed at easing the cost of marriage for parents who cannot afford ceremonies on their own. Support is meant for families that meet the programme’s eligibility rules after verification.

Preparations reviewed in Faisalabad

On the directions of Divisional Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, Additional Commissioner Coordination Qaiser Abbas Rind reviewed preparations for the fourth phase. Director Social Welfare Khalida Rafiq briefed the meeting on applications received, the scrutiny process, eligibility criteria and related steps.

She told the meeting that 1,607 applications had so far come in from the four districts of the division. After checks by tehsil verification committees, the eligibility of 604 applicants had been verified. Final scrutiny of applications will be carried out through the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the province’s IT arm, under the procedure set by the provincial government. Only applicants who clear that stage and meet the criteria will be selected.

Provincial targets and earlier phases

Khalida Rafiq said the Punjab government has set a target of arranging marriages for 5,000 deserving girls in the upcoming phases of the Dhee Rani Program Punjab across the province. In the first three phases, collective wedding ceremonies were already arranged for 3,000 deserving girls across Punjab.

The Faisalabad division phase is therefore one part of a wider provincial push, with the 500 places for this round to be filled only after PITB verification is complete.

Officials stress transparency and coordination

Qaiser Abbas Rind directed officers to finish arrangements within the given timeframe and to work in close coordination across departments. He stressed that ceremonies must run smoothly and with dignity, and that verification must follow transparency, merit and prescribed procedures so that help reaches families who genuinely qualify.

He described the Dhee Rani Program as a welfare measure meant to reduce financial hardship for deserving households, share parents’ burden in arranging daughters’ marriages, and offer practical relief to vulnerable groups. Collective weddings, he said, also encourage social solidarity and mutual cooperation. He added that available resources would be used to facilitate deserving girls while protecting the dignity of beneficiary families at every stage.
