The Capital Development Authority (CDA) — Islamabad’s civic planning body — has issued a Maulana Fazlur Rehman residence notice over alleged building-regulation breaches at the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief’s home in the capital. The notice, dated 30 October 2026 and sent by the Directorate of Building Control (City), gives 15 days to remove the listed irregularities or face further enforcement.
What the notice objects to
According to the Building Control Directorate notice, officials identified alleged unauthorised construction inside the property’s mandatory setbacks — the clear strips around a plot that building rules require to stay free. They also objected to a security guard post and a generator placed on CDA-owned land, treating both as installations that must be removed.
The property is listed as Plot No. 07, Street No. 83, Sector G-6/4. The notice, signed through the Deputy Director Building Control, directs the owner and occupant to clear every identified violation within 15 days of issuance.
Deadline, warnings and earlier pledge
CDA warned that missing the deadline may trigger legal action under the CDA Ordinance and the Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations. Possible steps include sealing the building, demolishing alleged unauthorised structures, and starting proceedings that could cancel the property’s allotment.
The authority also pointed to an earlier paper trail. On 18 March 2019 the owner submitted an affidavit promising to remove setback violations within three months and to follow CDA rules. Officials say those alleged breaches were never resolved, which frames the latest Maulana Fazlur Rehman residence notice as a follow-up rather than a first warning alone.
Political reaction and CDA’s reply
JUI-F described CDA’s step as a reactionary move. In a social-media post, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son questioned why the notice was issued. Without naming anyone, he wrote that the whole system was being used to satisfy one person’s ego and desire for revenge.
When contacted, building-control officials said the Maulana Fazlur Rehman residence notice followed a routine survey of the house and was handled as a normal enforcement case.
