Apple will bring Apple Intelligence to China with iOS 27.3, the company said on its Chinese newsroom site. The first features will appear in an iOS 27.3 beta set for November 4, followed by a full iOS 27.3 release scheduled for December.
The rollout is aimed at Chinese-market users who have waited for on-device and system AI tools that already ship in other regions. What arrives first—and what does not
Apple is not shipping the new Siri AI to China in this release. Instead, it is opening several earlier Apple Intelligence features: notification summaries, real-time translation, rewriting and proofreading tools, visual intelligence, and the ability to remove objects from photos.
Those tools sit closer to everyday phone use—cleaning up a busy lock screen, translating on the fly, polishing text, or editing a photo—than to a fully conversational assistant. Apple also says it has worked with Alibaba to add support for Alibaba’s Qwen chatbot in some experiences, in a role similar to how iOS has integrated OpenAI’s ChatGPT in other markets since 2024.
Why the China path took longer
Apple Intelligence was approved in China in July, a signal that a launch was drawing closer. In August, Apple was reported to have trained its own large language model (LLM)—software that generates and understands language—specifically for China, reflecting local rules that often require domestic partners and models.
The November beta and December public update now put a firm window on when Chinese users can start testing and then receiving the first wave of features.
