The ABHI Microfinance Bank IPO is set to go ahead on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), with institutional book-building on 5 and 6 November and a public retail window on 12 and 13 November. The bank plans to sell 132 million ordinary shares and raise between Rs2 billion and Rs3 billion, according to details disclosed to the PSX. The floor price is Rs15 a share, including a Rs5 premium.
How the share offer is structured
Three-quarters of the issue—99 million shares—will be placed through book-building for institutional and high-net-worth investors. The price band allows bids up to 50% above the floor, which caps the strike at Rs22.50 a share. At the floor, the bank expects gross proceeds of about Rs1.98 billion; closer to the top of the band, the raise would sit nearer the upper end of the Rs2–3 billion target.
The portion earmarked for the general public is fully underwritten by Arif Habib Limited, Topline Securities Limited, Growth Securities (Private) Limited and Dawood Equities Limited. That underwriting means those firms stand behind the public tranche if demand falls short.
Where the money will go
Management says the proceeds will mainly expand the loan book and strengthen the capital base. The equity injection is meant to lift the bank’s capital adequacy ratio (CAR)—the cushion of capital held against lending and other risks—and to help it meet the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the central bank’s, minimum capital rules for microfinance banks. The bank also says the raise should ease a capital shortfall and move its CAR nearer the regulatory threshold.
ABHI serves customers through branches and branchless channels. It runs a digital platform and more than 114 branches in over 108 cities, offering financial services across Pakistan.
Capital and profit outlook
The bank expects to stay profitable in 2026. Management estimates about Rs1.5 billion of profit in the second half of the year, taking full-year profit to around Rs3 billion; its formal forecast is Rs2.927 billion. After adding IPO funds and those projected earnings—before other capital adjustments—it expects CAR to turn positive and reach roughly 4.3% by the end of 2026.
Profitability is projected to improve further in 2027, adding to retained earnings. Combined with routine regulatory capital adjustments, the bank expects CAR to reach 17.8% by the end of 2027, above the SBP’s 15% minimum for microfinance banks.
