Four new mpox cases in Pakistan have been recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial health department said on Tuesday, lifting the number of infections in the province to 18.
The fresh detections were announced by the department for the northwest province. Officials also said one person has died from the disease in the province to date.
Where the cases stand
Peshawar, the provincial capital, accounts for the largest share of infections so far, with five cases, according to the health department. The four newly reported infections are included in the updated provincial count of 18.
No further breakdown by district for the latest four cases was given in the department’s account. The figures cover Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only as stated by provincial health officials.
Symptoms and official advice
Mpox can bring fever, headache, body aches, and skin rashes or blisters. The department urged the public to avoid close contact with infected people to lower the chance of the virus spreading.
That guidance is aimed at limiting person-to-person transmission in homes, workplaces, and other shared spaces. Anyone with fever, aches, or unexplained rashes or blisters should treat those signs seriously and seek medical advice through local health services.
What health authorities are watching
Provincial officials are tracking the rise in mpox cases in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the total moves to 18. The concentration of five cases in Peshawar means the capital remains a focus for monitoring and public messaging.
Further updates will depend on what the health department reports next. For now, the confirmed picture is four new infections, 18 cases province-wide, five in Peshawar, and one death linked to the disease.
