If you are checking the Islamabad traffic update today, expect delays around Kashmir Chowk. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), the force that manages traffic in the capital, has announced a diversion plan for October 24 and 25. Under the plan, the roads running from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk and from Serena Hotel to Kashmir Chowk are closed, and drivers have been asked to take other roads.

Roads that are closed

The closures cover two days, October 24 and 25, and affect two approaches to the Kashmir Chowk junction. One starts at Rawal Dam Chowk and the other at Serena Hotel. Anyone whose usual route passes through either stretch will need to plan a different path for both days.

ITP alternate routes

For trips from G-5, the Secretariat or Serena Hotel towards Rawalpindi, the ITP suggested Srinagar Highway, combined with either Ninth Avenue or the Mehrabad Peshawar Road. Drivers wanting to turn back towards Murree Road or Club Road can use the Lake View U-turn, an ITP official said.

Vehicles heading to Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road or Lehtrar Road were pointed to Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Rawal Dam Road, with Tulip Hotel also listed as a link. For travellers going to Murree or Bhara Kahu from Faizabad, the official named Faisal Avenue, Zero Point and Korang Chowk. In the reverse direction, traffic from Rawalpindi can use Ninth Avenue and Faqir Aipee Road before joining Srinagar Highway.

Timing and police on duty

The official warned that traffic could slow during the diversions and advised residents to set off 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual. Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan said police personnel would be stationed on the roads to guide motorists and keep vehicles moving smoothly. Anyone looking for an Islamabad traffic update today should keep watching official ITP announcements for any changes to the plan.
