Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has outlined the Islamabad new city project, a Manhattan-style development planned close to the Prime Minister's Office in the capital. The city would have its own legal framework, according to the minister.
What the minister announced
Naqvi made the remarks at the Saudi-Pak Real Estate Expo in Lahore. He said the proposed city would cover 1,000 acres, with a central park encircled by a lake and a mix of commercial and residential complexes.
He described the expo as an important platform for attracting investment, and urged investors to look at opportunities in Pakistan's property sector. Naqvi also said the government plans to build what he called Asia's largest safari park in Islamabad.
Land auction and open questions
The minister said the government intends to auction valuable land in December, including plots and commercial properties. The December auction is the only date attached to the plans so far.
No formal approval, construction start date or cost has been reported for the Islamabad new city project. Residents and investors should watch for official notices from the government and the terms of the auction before reading more into the plan.
