At least 12 people lost their lives and 22 others suffered injuries following a deadly Balochistan bus accident today near Hub, after a passenger coach collided head-on with a minivan on Wednesday.

The collision took place near Zero Point Uthal in the Lasbela district. Emergency responders from the Edhi Foundation and local authorities rushed to the scene shortly after the crash to pull victims from the damaged vehicles.

Details of the collision near Uthal

According to Dr Hakim Lasi, in-charge of the Edhi Centre in Lasbela, the deceased comprise seven men and five women. Rescue teams transferred the bodies and the 22 injured victims to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Police officials confirmed the travel paths of both public transport vehicles. The large passenger coach was travelling from the port city of Gwadar towards Karachi, while the smaller mini-wagon was heading from Karachi towards Bela when the two crashed along the highway.

Road safety concerns across major highways

The Balochistan bus crash highlights recurring safety hazards on intercity transport routes connecting Sindh and Balochistan. High speeds, overtaking on single-lane roads, and heavy commercial traffic often create severe risks for intercity commuters on national links.

Rescue workers and hospital teams worked through the day to stabilise the injured, with authorities continuing to examine the exact sequence of events leading up to the impact.
