Peshawar Safe City adds aerial watch across five kilometres

Police officials say the Peshawar Safe City central command is now tied to drone and anti-drone tools, with radar cover of up to five kilometres and automatic alerts.

Police officials said on Wednesday that the Peshawar Safe City Project’s central command system has been linked with drone and anti-drone technology to strengthen security and surveillance in the provincial capital.

They described the move as Pakistan’s first integration of a drone unit and an anti-drone system with a Safe City project. The aim, they said, is to let authorities track drone activity and react more quickly when a possible security threat appears in the air.

How the anti-drone link works

According to police officials, the anti-drone system will watch all drones flying inside its radar range and provide coverage of up to five kilometres. It will raise automatic alerts. Any suspicious drone movement will send an immediate notice to the Safe City control room.

Linking the drone and anti-drone tools with the central control room is meant to support round-the-clock aerial watch of sensitive sites, traffic and criminal activity. Officials said modern technology should help them spot suspicious behaviour and possible terrorist threats earlier than before.

Where aerial surveillance will operate

Police officials said the drone surveillance system would also run in Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Lakki Marwat. That spreads the aerial layer beyond the city that hosts the Peshawar Safe City command hub.

Live video from Safe City drones, they added, will let officers follow field operations as they unfold. The same setup is expected to give operational support to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD)—the police wing that investigates and responds to terrorism-related threats.

What authorities say comes next

With the command room now connected to both drones and the anti-drone shield, police present the change as a way to watch the sky as well as the ground. Automatic alerts and a five-kilometre radar envelope are the concrete tools they cite for faster notice of unusual flights.

How often the system will be used day to day, and how the public will see its effects on traffic or street policing, were not detailed in the officials’ remarks. What they have confirmed is the technical link, the coverage distance, the multi-city drone plan, and support for CTD operations through live feeds.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Peshawar Safe City ke control room ko ab drone aur anti-drone system se jod diya gaya hai. Police ke mutabiq yeh radar taqreeban paanch kilometre tak drones dekh sakta hai aur shak ki surat mein foran alert bhejta hai. Is nigrani ka faida Peshawar ke sath DI Khan, Bannu aur Lakki Marwat mein bhi lene ka plan hai. Mamooli shehri ke liye matlab yeh hai ke hawa aur sarak dono ki nigrani tez karne ki koshish ho rahi hai, khas tor par security ke khatre ke khilaf.
