The Punjab Workers Welfare Fund (PWWF) — the provincial body that pays welfare grants to registered industrial workers — has made its largest single-day payout on record, Punjab’s labour minister said on Sunday.
On 30 October, PWWF transferred Rs460,775,486 covering 1,331 individual welfare grant cases directly into workers’ personal bank accounts, according to Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Manshaullah Butt. He described the move as a historic milestone for the fund.
How the money was paid
Speaking in Lahore, the minister said the timely provision of financial assistance to workers remains a top government priority. He stressed that payments are being routed through direct bank transfers so that the process stays transparent and easier for recipients to receive.
A spokesperson’s statement attributed to the minister said this bank-to-account method is intended to be an effective, transparent and hassle-free way to deliver grants. No cash counters or intermediary handovers were mentioned for this batch of payments.
Three-month total for industrial workers
Beyond the single-day figure, Butt said registered industrial workers received cumulative assistance exceeding Rs2.165 billion — given as Rs2,165,100,000 — between 1 August 2026 and 30 October 2026. That sum covered 10,246 welfare grant cases over the same period.
Dividing the 30 October total by the number of cases that day averages about Rs346,000 per grant. Over the August–October window, the average works out to roughly Rs211,000 per case. Individual awards can vary; the sources give only the totals and case counts, not each worker’s exact amount.
Timeline: what has happened so far

What officials say comes next
Butt reiterated that keeping grants flowing straight into workers’ accounts is central to how the government wants PWWF support delivered. The statement did not announce a new grant scheme, a change in eligibility rules, or a date for the next large payout. For now, the confirmed news is the scale and method of the October 30 transfer and the August–October cumulative total.
