Justice Aminuddin Khan, chief of Pakistan's Federal Constitutional Court, spoke at an international roundtable in Baku on October 21. The session focused on AI in constitutional courts, and he used the occasion to explain how artificial intelligence could strengthen the work of judges. His visit to Azerbaijan is set to run until October 24.

A forum for constitutional courts

The Federal Constitutional Court is a separate body from the Supreme Court. In July 2026, a regional grouping of constitutional courts from Turkic-speaking countries, known as TÜRK-AY, gave observer status to the Pakistani court. The Baku trip was made on the grouping's special invitation.

Judges, senior officials and court leaders attended the conference. The countries represented were Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Pakistan's court registrar, Muhammad Hafeez Ullah Khan, was also present.

Tributes, gifts and an invitation

Before the conference, the chief justice visited the Victory Monument in Baku and the memorial to Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's national leader, where he placed flower arrangements. At the close of the event, he presented ceremonial shields and gifts that reflect Pakistani culture. He also invited Dr Farhad Abdullayev, chairman of Azerbaijan's Constitutional Court, to visit Pakistan, and the invitation was accepted.
