The Bank of Punjab reported a profit after tax of Rs14.53 billion for the nine months ended 30 September 2026, a 22% rise from the same period a year earlier, after its board of directors reviewed and approved the unaudited results on 26 October 2026.
Profit before tax reached Rs30.46 billion, up 15%. The bank said the figures build on a strong first half and point to steadier core earnings, wider lending, and a firmer capital position among Pakistani banks.
Earnings and operating efficiency
Operating profit before provisions and gains climbed to Rs34.42 billion, up 34% year on year. Net interest income — the gap between what the bank earns on loans and what it pays on deposits — was Rs69.40 billion, up 19%. Non-markup income excluding gains, which covers fees and other banking services, rose 47% to Rs18.04 billion.
Management linked the result to balance-sheet choices, stronger fee income, and tighter cost control. The cost-to-income ratio excluding gains improved by 3.03 percentage points, meaning a larger share of revenue was left after operating expenses.
Lending, deposits and the balance sheet
Gross advances — total loans before provisions — grew 28% year on year to Rs1,073 billion. The bank framed that rise as wider support for economic activity. Total assets stood at Rs2,456 billion and deposits at Rs1,928 billion.
Current deposits, which usually carry little or no interest for the bank to pay, grew 16% year on year, while average current deposits rose 25%. The bank said that mix should make funding cheaper over time and help sustain lending margins.
Capital, ratings and overseas plans
During the period the Government of Punjab injected Rs15.6 billion under equity arrangements. As of 30 September 2026 the capital adequacy ratio (CAR) — a buffer of capital against risk-weighted assets — was 13.94%, and the leverage ratio was 4.07%, both above State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) minimums. The bank also said it met full IFRS 9 provisioning rules, the accounting standard for expected credit losses.
PACRA, a local credit-rating agency, upgraded the bank’s long-term rating to AAA with a Stable Outlook. Separately, the SBP gave in-principle approval for an overseas wholesale banking unit in Bahrain. At the Pakistan Banking Awards 2026 the bank won three titles covering agriculture inclusion, SME banking, and women’s inclusion.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Bank of Punjab ne 2026 ke pehle nau mahine mein Rs14.53 arab ka munafa bataya hai, jo pichhle saal se 22% zyada hai. Bank ne zyada qarz diye — advances 28% barhe — aur Punjab hakumat ne Rs15.6 arab ka capital daala. Rating AAA ho gayi aur Bahrain mein wholesale banking unit ki ibtidai manzoori mil gayi. Is ka matlab yeh hai ke bank ke paas lending aur expansion ke liye zyada guanjayish hai, lekin aapke personal account rates is khabar se khud-ba-khud change nahi hote.
