The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Pakistan’s federal crime-investigation body, has arrested Noor Ahmed, a proclaimed offender wanted for 16 years in a human trafficking case, after a special operation ordered by the Director FIA Islamabad Zone.
An FIA official said on Sunday that a team from the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi took the suspect into custody in Mandi Bahauddin. He is wanted in FIR No. 243/2010 for allegedly helping citizens travel illegally to Greece through Iran and Turkiye along human-smuggling routes.
How the arrest was made
The official said the Deputy Director of the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi formed a special team on the Director FIA Islamabad Zone’s directions to catch proclaimed offenders—people formally declared absconders by the courts.
Inspector Zahid Bhatti led the team, which included Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rafiq and Head Constable Waqas Gujjar. According to the official, the team traced Noor Ahmed and arrested him after he had remained at large for 16 years.

The case against him centres on alleged facilitation of illegal overseas movement rather than a fresh incident announced with the arrest. Human trafficking and migrant smuggling cases typically involve recruiters or facilitators accused of arranging unlawful border crossings for payment or other gain; the FIR details cited by the FIA point to a Greece-bound route via Iran and Turkiye.
The same official said investigators will still determine what role, if any, other suspects played in the case. No further charges, court dates, or bail details were given with the arrest announcement.
