The Hub Power Company Limited (HUBC) posted a Hubco Q1 profit of Rs12.8 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, a 10 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. Earnings per share stood at Rs9.86, and the company declared a dividend of Rs5 per share for 1QFY27.

Revenue and plant utilisation

Consolidated revenue rose 27 percent year over year to Rs22.1 billion, which the company linked to higher plant utilisation across its portfolio. NEL’s utilisation increased to 18 percent in 1QFY27 from 4 percent in 1QFY26. China Power Hub Generation Company (Private) Limited (CPHGC) ran at about 99 percent utilisation amid RLNG (re-gasified liquefied natural gas) supply disruptions and seasonal demand.

TEL and TNPTL maintained utilisation of 88 percent and 83 percent respectively. LEL’s utilisation rose sharply to 31 percent from 10 percent in the same quarter last year.

Associates, costs and tax

The share of profit from associates was Rs12.7 billion in 1QFY27, compared with Rs13.0 billion in 4QFY26 and Rs10.8 billion in 1QFY26. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, Hubco Q1 profit was lower than the previous quarter. That decline reflected a 1 percent fall in gross profit, a lower effective tax rate booked in the prior quarter, and a smaller share of associates’ profit, with earnings normalisation at CPHGC, TNPTL and PRIME cited as the main reason for the softer associate contribution.

Finance costs declined 13 percent year over year, helped by continued loan repayments tied to CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) investments and lower interest rates. The effective tax rate in 1QFY27 was 24.7 percent, versus 19.3 percent in 1QFY26 and 1.4 percent in the previous quarter.

Dividend and income from associates

HUBC’s Rs5-per-share dividend for the quarter was supported by dividend inflows, mainly from CPHGC, according to channel checks. Standalone dividend income during the quarter was Rs9.70 billion, or Rs7.48 per share. Associate earnings remained elevated even after the quarter-on-quarter pullback.

Taken together, the Hubco Q1 profit figure shows stronger year-on-year earnings and revenue, a cash return to shareholders, and higher utilisation at several plants, while sequential profit was softer on tax and associate normalisation.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Hub Power Company ne pehli quarter mein 12.8 arab rupay ka munafa bataya hai, jo pichhle saal se 10 percent zyada hai. Company ne har share par 5 rupay dividend bhi diya hai. Bijli plants zyada chale, is liye revenue bhi barha. Jo log HUBC ke shares rakhte hain, unke liye yeh dividend aur munafa seedha faida hai.
