A third cohort of Pakistani agriculture graduates training in China has begun, with 107 agricultural professionals set for three months of modern technology instruction at Northwest A&F University in Yangling, Shaanxi.
The opening ceremony marked the latest stage of the Prime Minister’s Initiative for Capacity Building of 1,000 Agricultural Graduates in China. The programme is meant to deepen the technical skills of people who work with farmers so they can back agricultural development once they return to Pakistan.
Where the training will take place
Participants will study modern agricultural technology at Northwest A&F University in Yangling, a city in China’s Shaanxi province. The course is scheduled to last three months. Officials frame the stay as practical capacity building rather than a short visit: graduates are expected to bring methods and tools back into Pakistan’s farming system.
Punjab official’s visit and fair focus
Muhammad Akbar Khan, director of agriculture extension at the Punjab Agriculture Department in Lahore, visited the China Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Fair while in China. He said such exposure matters for building the capacity of younger agricultural personnel.
Khan is spending three weeks in China on training, with stops in different cities before Yangling. He said the programme had shown him technologies and methods that could help Pakistan’s farming sector. At the fair he pointed to an artificial intelligence-based farmer-support system, arguing that new tools and better-organised agricultural information could help farmers raise production.
What the wider initiative aims to do
Pakistani agriculture graduates training in China under this scheme sit inside a larger target: 1,000 agricultural personnel over the life of the initiative. The third cohort’s 107 places continue that pipeline. The stated purpose is to strengthen technical capacity so returning professionals can support farmers and agricultural development at home.
Agriculture training in China in this format focuses on modern technology and organised farm information, as described by participants such as Khan. How quickly those lessons reach village-level practice will depend on follow-up after the trainees return.
